Wet 'n' Wild Mega Last Matte Lipsticks| Swatches + Review

So if you are a makeup buff, you have probably heard about (or already bought) some of the new collection of lipsticks by Wet 'n' Wild... unless you live under a rock. The collection isn't new per se, but they are definitely wildly more popular than they were a year ago. People are raving about Wet 'n' Wild's Mega Last Matte lipsticks everywhere from YouTube beauty gurus, to the hashtags of Instagram makeup selfies and now they are taking MakeupSocial by storm too. And who can blame them when a single tube of these lippies will only set you back $2!

I bought 10 of these (the only 10 shades not sold out at my local CVS Pharmacy) and here I will show you some swatches, a description of each shade and my final thoughts on this product.

ENJOY!

1. "Mauve Outta Here" #907C

This shade is exactly as the name suggests. It is a dusty mauve shade, a little less violet than traditional mauve, more on the pink side, but very lovely. This is a perfect everyday color, and one swipe of this on the lips was the perfect coverage without looking patchy or uneven.

2. "24 Carrot Gold" #969

This red shade is really more orange than anything. It swatches as kind of a coral-ly red shade, but after several swipes, it easily builds up to an orange based color. Perfect for summer as a pop of color without being too gawdy. It was a little too orange for my skin tone, but this would look awesome on darker and olive skin tones.

3. "Think Pink" #901B

This pink is the perfect everyday pink shade that would look good on everyone. A staple shade that every girl should have in her collection, it is very similar to MAC's Cream Cup lipstick. It swatches beautifully, and a little creamier than some of the other shades in this collection.

4. "Red Velvet" #910D

A classic red, this lipstick is the perfect matte red lipstick for those of you gals who like blue-reds more than orange-reds. it swatches very smooth and after wearing this shade for several hours, no feathering or drying out like most matte reds.

5. "Sugar Plum Fairy" #908C

This is a perfect transitioning-to-fall shade: just dark enough for summer to not be considered vampy, but at the same time, it has that perfect balance of maroon and purple to make it an awesome shade for fall. Swatched a little bit patchy with one swipe, but after another pass over it looked beautiful on the lips.

6. "Wine Room" #906D

The name is a little deceiving, as it really isn't wine colored when swatched, but still a beautiful shade. Another neutral that would be flattering on any skin tone, this shade a dark pink shade with subtle hints of terra cotta.

7. "Cherry Bomb" #918D

This shade is by far my favorite out of the bunch that I bought. It is the perfect shade of lipstick to vamp up any look. It is a dark purple-based red and an ultimate shade for fall. It was quite patchy when applied, and a little drying, so I would recommend a lip exfoliator and a primer for best wear.

8. "Bare It All" #902C

Just as the name of this one suggests, this is a peachy-orange based nude shade. This one felt the most drying out of the ten shades that I bought, but nothing that some pre-application lip balm can't fix. I felt that this shade looked a little bit off on my fairer skin tone, but I think it would definitely look great on more yellow and olive based skin tones.

9. "Ravin' Raisin" #916D

Another darker shade, this shade falls between Cherry Bomb and Sugar Plum Fairy. A little more purple than Cherry Bomb, and a little less maroon than Sugar plum fairy this shade is another one that would be flattering on anyone.

10. "Dollhouse Pink" #967

This shade is the ultimate Barbie pink. It is a little lighter of a pink than MACs Saint Germain, this is definitely a pink not for the faint of heart. A little daring, but still wearable without coming off as crazy, this is a shade that I think every girl should own just because its so girly and fun.

FINAL VERDICT
I really like these lipsticks. They aren't as drying as most mattes and very little feathering (mostly just the dark shades feather a bit). They last a decent amount of time for a drugstore buy and you really can't beat them for $2 a pop. My only gripe about this collection is the packaging. It is very cheap (again...I remind myself they were only $2) and the caps tend to pop right off, exposing the lipstick for possible damage. I also don't like how the lipstick itself doesn't wind all the way down into the tube. I would rather it did, just in case a lid comes off (and again...common with these), my lipstick wont get ruined or get chunks of it scraped off when recapping. However, overall these are wonderful and ill definitely be using these as some of my regulars.

I hope you enjoyed this review! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think!
