Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms | Review + Swatches

A couple of weeks ago I posted a picture on Instagram of the Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms and I received several direct messages and comments asking for swatches and so I decided to do a review and swatch for you guys.
Revlon has had these on the market for a while now, I believe along with the glossy and stain balms but I never really paid much attention to them. I first picked up three shades, but you guys know me when I find a lip product I like: I went out and bought all ten shades.

The packaging is a convenient twist up crayon, like the Elf chubby stick balms with a matte finish. It has a silver matte detailing on the bottom and much to my delight, a secure cap, good for tossing in your makeup bag or purse. They feel quite sturdy for drugstore which is nice. The only thing I hate, which is common with drugstore lipsticks, is the only thing sealing it closed at the store is a thin piece of tape, so it took some digging at several stores to find ones that weren't opened and swatched or mashed in the lid.

The shades range from muted nudes, bright oranges and corals and even a few purple based ones. There's a shade for everyone. The finish on these aren't quite matte but they aren't super  glossy either. The application is really easy and quick with these too. They apply really creamy and most of the shades are quite opaque with one swipe. The lasting power though isn't too impressive. After only a couple of hours it fades or smeared around (especially after eating), so I'd suggest these would be good to wear for only a short while. Let's jump into swatches!

Elusive 205
The first in the line is a really pretty mauve pink. It's a cooler tone and so versatile for any skin tone. This one is super opaque and one swipe gave full color payoff.

Unapologetic 210
This is one of my favorites. It's a bright pinky coral and it reminds me of a hibiscus flower perfect for summer. This one is also very opaque and creamy and it does feather some after a while.

Shameless 215
This purple is the darkest of the shades and I'm totally loving it. It's not as opaque as some of the other shades but after a few swipes you get full color pay off. It reminds me of MAC Pure Heroine.

Showy 220
In the tube it looks like it would be a bright Fuchsia pink, but it swatches more of a bubblegum pink. It's still very pretty but it didn't last long at all on my lips.

Sultry 225
Sultry is one of the more popular shades and I can see why. It's a stunning neutral, kind of a dusty rosy shade and it's very close to MAC Velvet Teddy and I believe the s shade can be worn by anyone. This one lasted a little longer than the others.

Complex 230
This shade is a nude, warm toned shade. It was not very opaque compared to other shades. This one, personally, looks terrible on me but I think on warmer olive shin tones it would make a nice nude.

Mischievous 235
This is the lightest of the two orange shades in the line and I really like it. It wasn't that opaque so it applied more like a stain, which totally works with a bright color like orange. It's still a really fun shade for spring and summer. I think it's pretty similar to MAC Sushi Kiss.

Striking 240
If you're looking for a rusty toned lipstick, this is an awesome choice. It's a warm reddish orange and perfect for someone wanting to try a more orange hued lip. This was another opaque balm that gave you full pigmentation with one swipe. Judging by the red packaging, I was hoping for a brighter red, but it's still lovely.

Audacious 245
This is the darker of the two oranges, but still a fun bright orange. It's more melon or coral toned and I think this would be gorgeous on darker skin tones.

Standout 250
Looking at the tube unexpected a rich, true red, but this one did disappoint a little. It wasn't as opaque as the others and the red looked a little washed out. It could definitely benefit from a red liner, but it would be a good red for someone just starting out and wanting to try a red lip color.

So overall, I really like these balms. Although they aren't matte, the creaminess feels nice and moisturizing on the lips and not too heavy. For the price they are a nice product, but a few shades did disappoint. However, I will definitely be  repurchasing backups of Unapologetic and Sultry. Have any of you tried the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms? What did you think of them?

These are available at Ulta, Walmart, Target and most drugstores for $6-$9 each.
