Thanksgiving Eyes | Lipstick Try-On

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful day with some awesome food! Now that my food coma has worn off, I thought I'd post a pictorial of how I did my makeup today. For me, Thanksgiving is the official kick off date for fun holiday makeup, so even though we weren't going anywhere today and it was just family all day, I decided to spice things up and make it really smokey and sultry.
I was inspired by cranberries. Fresh cranberries are the prettiest shades of reds and burgundies and I thought that would make a perfect look!

Let's jump right in!

Start with primed lids. Dramatic eyeshadow starts to just look sloppy and smeared if it creases. I wanted my eye makeup to last all day without touch ups or without it melting off in the kitchen.

Next I grabbed my Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade "Pomegranate Punk" and used my finger to apply that as a base all over my lid.

Take a dense blending brush and blend out the edges of the red, bringing it up into the crease.

From the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamana Palette, blend "Bengal" into the crease to soften the edge of the red cream shadow.

Taking "Sangria" from the same palette, pack that into the outer and inner corners of the lid. Blend out the edges to soften it up some.

Now, take "Noir" (or any matte black) and apply that to the same areas as "Sangria."

Blend out the edges again. If needed, take a little more "Sangria" to soften the black.

Highlight the inner corner and brow bone with "Blush."

For the middle of the lid, I used my pinky finger to pack on some Loreal Infallible Eye Shadow in the shade "Iced Latte." I find if you want the most intense color payoff with these, your fingers (clean fingers!) are honestly your best tools. Blend the edges of that shade too.

Now run some "Bengal" under your eye, going down pretty low.

Do the same with "Sangria" only staying closer to the lashes with this shade.

Finally, blend "Noir" into the outer part of the lower lash line, right in the lashes.

Add some mascara and falsies if you choose and that's it for this look!

Here is a close up of the eye makeup.

Now no look is complete without some lipstick. I couldn't decide which shade I wanted to wear so I tried on five.

First is Honey Love by MAC.

Next I tried Velvet Teddy from MAC

Divine Wine from the Maybelline Mattes collection was next.

Then I tried Rebel also from MAC

Finally I tried on Goddess by Lorac

I ultimately decided on Goddess. Who says you can't wear purple in the fall?

Which lipstick do you think looks best?
Well I hope you enjoyed this post! Have an amazing Thanksgiving night and for those of you going out shopping, stay safe!

xoxo

Purple Party Look | Pictorial

I haven't done a pictorial in a while so I thought i would do one to break up the reviews (more to come! Lots of special edition holiday sets to swatch for you!). It's almost that time of year for holiday parties, and I don't know about you, but I love going a little dramatic for the holidays. For some reason I feel like it's easier to get away with darker colors and some sparkle. The other day I was playing around with purple and came up with this.
Let's get started!

First prime you lids. Then with a matte white shadow, highlight your brow bone and the inner half or so of your eyelid.
Next, using a cream black shadow (gel liner works too!) map out the crease area. I went high on the inner part, blending the black pretty much to the brow.

Blend a matte purple eyeshadow on either dose of the black.

Go in with a matte black shadow and deepen the area where we used the cream shadow.

Do the same with the purple to deepen the color.

Run the purple under the lower lashes then do the same with the black, closer to the lashes.

Using a white shimmery shadow, apply the to the area of the lid with the matte white eye shadow.

Line your upper lashes with angel liner, extending it out to a wing.

Add some mascara and lashes and that's it! I've been loving purple lately and I really like how this turned out. It's perfect for a holiday or New Years party!

Thanks for reading! Let me know in the comments what you think or if you have any pictorial ideas!

Tarte Pin Up Girl Blush Palette | Review + Swatch

Back with another review! This time I bring you Tarte's Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-Hr Blush Palette. Whew...what a mouth full ha. This is one of their 2014 holiday items and I'm so glad I picked it up.

The packaging is amazing, even though it's bulky. The blushes come in a gold, faux leather clutch with pretty gold and lilac detailing.

Clipped to the outside of the clutch is two hair pins. One is a small rhinestone one and the other is adorned with pearl details. They're really pretty and definitely reminds me of the side swept pin up curls.

Opening it up, it comes with five shades ranging from bronze-y to darker pinks and oranges. Each pan is a pretty decent size and they are imprinted with the usual Tarte tree pattern.

Let's take a look at the individual shades.

The first shade is "Breathless." This is a pinky beige shade. It comes off as a bronzer shade with pink undertones. Perfect for warming up a pale completion. This shade is matte.

The second blush is "Embraced." This is the darker shade Andy favorite in the palette. It reminds me of a lighter version of NARS Sin. It is a plummy rose shade and definitely my favorite to wear in the colder months. It's a little sheer but easily build able. This shade has subtle shimmers in it.

Next to that is "Whimsy." This shade looks like an in-your-face neon pink in the pan, but on the skin it's a beautiful light pink shade. It's flirty and sweet and perfect for simple looks to add a flush. It's easy to apply too much if this one so a lighter hand is best. This shade is also matte.

"Bashful" is next up in the palette. This one is a rosy peach shade, another favorite of mine. This one is also perfect for adding a subtle healthy glow to the cheeks. This shade also has tiny shimmers in it, but nothing too drastic.

Last in the palette is "Irreplaceable." This one is more of a mauve-y rose hue, coming off as more red toned on the skin. This one is super pigmented and I found it was easy to pick up too much product, so again, a lighter hand with this one is best I think.

Did you get any of Tarte's holiday items this year? What do you think about them? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time loves...

Smashbox On The Rocks Be Legendary Lipstick Trio | Review + Swatch

Hey all! Just wanted to pop in and do a quick little review for you. I stopped by Ulta for a few things and saw this. It's the Smashbox On The Rocks Lipstick Trio. It's from their holiday edition and will probably sell out quick. I've seen this a few times at Sephora and Ulta but didn't pay much attention to it until this last trip. I've never tried any lipsticks from Smashbox so I thought this is a perfect way to test them out.

It's a lipstick set and it comes with three mini Be Legendary lipsticks: Legendary (classic red), Fig (mauve-y purple), and Primrose (pinky nude).

These are so pretty! My only gripe is that the formula is a little slick so a lip liner should definitely be used with them.

What do you think? Picked up any new holiday items lately?

Thanks for reading!

Haul | Sephora VIB Sale

Recently, I've made a couple trips to Sephora. This time of year means trouble for my bank account but luckily the VIB sale helped me save a little dough. So, as promised in my last post, here are my recent Sephora purchases.

Enjoy!

The first thing I bought was this Beauty Blender Fantastic Four set. It comes with an original pink blender, a pro black blender, a mini green blender and a mini of the solid blender cleanser. This was an awesome deal at only $39 (a steal considering one Beauty Blender will set you back about $20) so there was no way I could pass this up. And perfect timing since my other one is out of commision due to a sneaky cat.

The next thing I picked up was this Smashbox On The Rocks Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette. I won't go into too much detail so you can read my review here, but after swatching it in store a few weeks ago I knew I wanted it.

I have always liked Tarte's blushes so when I saw this Tarte Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush Palette, I had to have it. The packaging is adorable and it comes with these two cute little hairpins in this beautiful gold clutch. It contains five blushes, all of them are very pigmented, smooth and long-lasting. (Review and swatch coming soon!)

I've never tried any Kat Von D blushes, so I decided to pick this one up. This is one of the Everlasting Love blushes in the shade "Truth." It's that perfect peachy orange shade that I love and it's
so beautiful on the skin.

Another Kat Von D product, is this Studded Kiss Lipstick holiday set. It comes with nine mini studded kiss lipsticks and even though I heard mixed reviews, I decided I wanted to give it a try. These are cute and perfect to keep in a bag, however I find that they are very delicate and if you use too heavy of a hand or too much pressure they break, so you have to be super easy with them.

I bought a full-sized Studded Kiss Lipstick also from Kat Von D in the shade Lolita. I already own two tubes of it actually, but each one is kind of a different color. The original one I bought is more dusty-rose, the second one I have is a more brown tone, and this one is somewhere in between. I don't know if they changed the formula but I think I like the shade of this one better than the other two that I have, even though it's the same shade in the range.

Also after hearing tons of good reviews on this Everlasting Liquid Lipstick from Kat Von D, I picked up the shade Jeffree. Jeffree is a bright pink, a little orangey-based and it's really fun. It's more of a summery color but I really like it. The wear on it is amazing. It lasted a good six hours in the one day that I tried it.

More lip products, I picked up three shades of the NARS Audacious Lipsticks. I already own a few of the shades but I decided to get a few more because I love them so much. I got the shades Jane, Annabella and Angela. The good thing about these is the lid magnetic so you don't have to worry about the cap falling off in your purse or ruining your lipstick. Also the wear on these is great. They are matte formulas too which is my favorite.

Also new from NARS are these Dual Intensity Eyeshadows. I've been dying to try these since they first came out (I think it was September?) and I have to say I am so impressed with these. These are made to wear them wet or dry. I bought three shades. I haven't tried them wet yet and just but just swatching them, I am so amazed at the colors. So beautiful.

The last thing that I picked up was this Too Faced Everything Nice palette. This set is so cute. It has eyeshadows, two plushes, a bronzer, a highlighter, a deluxe mascara sample of their Better Than Sex mascara. It also comes of this adorable glitter pink clutch. This thing is awesome and for only $59 I think it's a pretty good deal. Expect review on this in the coming week or so.

Well that does it for me! Have any of you guys bought anything from Sephora lately? Got anything from the VIP sale? Let me know if you want in depth reviews and swatches of any of these products!
